In Full Bloom – A Creative Collaboration
“Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own.”- Charles Dickens
When I first approached photographer Kim Maru about featuring her gallery on So Dearly Beloved, she explained that it was not intended to be a featured editorial. It was the result of a creative collaboration – artists who joined together for the sole purpose of exploring and sharing their creative talent. The result, however, was so spectacular that we had to pursue a feature. The entire gallery sent our Beloved hearts a-flutter.
We love the wildly romantic and untamed floral design, the soft, seductive textures of tulle and lace, and the minimalist design. Collectively these elements remind us of the sensual emergence of beauty; blooming radiantly – outshining the cold dampness of Winter. Yes, dear hearts, we were truly captivated. Much thanks to Kim and her wonderful creative team for allowing us to share their success with you.
“We did not intend to create an entire ‘editorial look’ from these images, rather we allowed ourselves to be free to explore the possibilities with the variety of beautiful elements and let the emerging ‘story’ tell itself in images.” – Photographer Kim Maru on her inspiration for this collaborative.
“I was inspired by the promise of spring’s soft colors after a dreary winter. Sweet cherry blossoms, peonies, garden roses and magnolia branches evoke the feeling of the abundant springtime garden and butterflies filling the air; a beautiful compliment to the minimal organic saying of the other elements of the shoot.” – florist Deborah Lee of Deborah Lee Designs:
“I was smitten with Debbie’s incredible flower crowns—the lush, tangled and foraged feel of them was a beautiful compliment to the more sensual, earthy and organic look and feel of a natural light, fine art aesthetic that I love so much.” – Kim-Maru
“We wanted to let those incredible floral crowns speak so I created a soft, romantic upswept hairstyle that still showed a bit of elegance but stayed true to a more minimal, uncluttered nature. I then complimented that with a “nude” make up look, also minimal makeup with soft eyes and a hint of color on the lips.” – Hair and Makeup stylist Felicia Bromba:
