The “Birth of Venus” – A Botticelli-Inspired Bridal Shoot

by | Aug 3, 2017 | Themes, Uncategorized

Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” is a renowned example of Italian Renaissance art and a beautiful symbol of feminine grace and beauty. The painting depicts the moment the goddess Venus is gently blown onto dry land after having emerged from the sea in a conch shell.

Inspired by her love for Botticelli’s Venus, photographer Nicole Kameenui of Darling Today designed a bridal inspiration shoot which includes a modern-day Venus clothed in an ethereal MYWONY bridal gown, and surrounded by the intoxicating waterfront vista of a private residence in North Carolina.

Nicole adds:
“As a lover of art, I am constantly inspired by different mediums such as paintings and sculpture. “Birth of Venus” is a painting that I’ve admired since my years in school and I feel it emulates the beauty of women in such an elegant and powerful way.”

About the chosen color palette:
“I decided to keep the color palette similar to the colors you see in the painting; shades of blue, green, and pinks. I also decided to feature copper and gold accents as a way to bring warmth to the soft palette.”

It’s a pleasure to present this mini-feature of Nicole’s vision…along with excerpts from the poem commonly thought to have inspired Botticelli’s rendering of Venus by Angelo Poliziano.
